Leadership Tallahassee

Leadership Tallahassee is a year-long program that prepares participants for community leadership through leadership service. Our competitive selection process ensures members of each class represent or reflect all sectors of the community, including business, government, education, and not-for-profits.

About the Program

Goals

  • To build a network of community trustees who have enhanced their leadership skills through shared perspectives & active collaboration
  • To develop an awareness of the challenges & opportunities in the community by examining major issues
  • To interact with both emerging & established community leaders
  • To help our graduates become educated & motivated to assume leadership roles in the community

Program Format

The LT program for adults is designed to provide a foundation for a commitment to effective leadership by educating & challenging area executives & managers on key issues in Tallahassee.  The end result is a network of leaders dedicated to understanding & improving the quality of life in Tallahassee & our region.

The year begins with an orientation, followed by a two-day retreat in August, and continues each month through April with monthly day-long sessions, concluding with an overnight closing retreat.  These sessions present activities and hands-on experiences related to timely topics, including:

  • The Arts
  • Business & Economic Development
  • Community Leadership
  • Environment
  • Government
  • Healthcare & Human Services
  • Justice
  • Public Safety
  • …and more!

Class Projects

Each class completes a class project as part of the annual program.  This project is a way to give back to the community through a special event, community service project, or fundraiser.

Commitment Beyond Graduation

It is anticipated that all LT graduates will continue their commitment to the program after completing the class year by becoming involved in LT & its program.

After the LT Class program, graduates develop relationships that will last a lifetime, and become part of an organization that continually gives back to the community. Alumni have opportunities to network with each other through quarterly luncheons with topics of relevance for both professional development & personal growth, as well as other social events that recognize & cultivate community leadership.
