Are you looking for an out-of-the-box experience? Do you want to meet a diverse group of people? Do you want to create life-long meaningful relationships?  Do you want to grow intellectually?  Do you want to learn more about our community?  If you answered yes, to many of these questions, then Leadership Tallahassee is calling your name.  The Leadership Tallahassee experience is by far one of the best experiences I have had and continue to have.  The program days are filled with very interesting activities, knowledge building, “WHO KNEW” and “AHA” moments all while nurturing relationships with interesting, diverse group of people you may have never met but for this experience.

I am LT 35!  I love my LT 35 sisters and brothers. Let me share some of our experiences…many of us were pushed out of our comfort zones by climbing ropes high up while team-building with my sisters and brothers. I got to burn down woods over at Tall Timbers while learning the importance of prescribed burning, I got to shoot all kinds of weapons at the law enforcement training center while learning how officers train and prepare for very difficult life-threatening scenarios, I was blindfolded for a day and had to take public transit which made an enormous impact on my life.  I learned about many facets of our local government developing an awareness of challenges and opportunities in our community.  We learned from many of our community stewards and discussed how we can be a part of the solution.  These are just a few of the many compelling experiences during my Leadership Tallahassee Class 35 year.  Not only did I gain immense knowledge and understanding, but I developed tight relationships with some amazing people.  I value my experience greatly.  Quite frankly, I did not want my experience to end so I joined the Leadership Tallahassee board.

I am so impressed with Leadership Tallahassee that my company, AMWAT Moving Warehousing Storage, is a sponsor for Opportunity Tallahassee, which is the CliffNotes version of Leadership Tallahassee.  This year’s Opportunity Tallahassee is scheduled for Thursday, September 29, 2022 and it is an intensive, one-day overview of our community wherein you will experience many similar activities as discussed above. Registration for Opportunity Tallahassee will be opening SOON, on August 25th.  Many Leadership Tallahassee graduates start off with Opportunity Tallahassee.

To me, leadership includes having out-of-the-ordinary experiences, having meaningful dialogue with diverse group of people, pushing yourself to expand your way of thinking, and, finally, using all these amazing experiences and contributing back to your community.  Isn’t that our purpose…to become the best version of ourselves, to help others along their journeys, to create a better world and make a positive impact? Give yourself the gift of Leadership Tallahassee or Opportunity Tallahassee.  You will not regret it!

Cheers! Gloria Pugh
