Frequently Asked Questions
When can I apply for Leadership Tallahassee?
The application for our next Class (LT Class 43) will be open Spring of 2025
Do I have to be nominated to apply for Leadership Tallahassee?
No.
Am I too young/old for this program?
If you are at least 22 years old, you are eligible! Participants ages have historically ranged from 22 – 72 years of age.
I’ve lived here my whole life. Isn’t this program JUST for people new to the community?
It doesn’t matter how long you’ve lived here! Alumni from previous classes who “have lived here their whole life” are surprised by how much they learned about the community.
Who is eligible to participate in Leadership Tallahassee?
Anyone who lives or works in the Big Bend Region (Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson, Wakulla, Taylor – and areas around Dothan, AL and Thomasville, GA) with a desire to further serve the community is eligible to apply for participation. Class size is limited and the selection of candidates is accomplished on a competitive basis.

Tuition is $3,000. Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce Members’ tuition is discounted to $2,750. Tuition may be paid by an employer/sponsor, individual or not-for-profit organization.
Are scholarships and/or payment plans available?
Payment plans are available. We have limited scholarships available; these must be requested at the time of application. Decisions about financial assistance are made separately from Class Selection decisions.
Is there a tuition refund policy?
In the case of a participant’s withdrawal from the program (for any reason), no portion of the tuition shall be refunded.
How do I apply for the program?
Complete and submit the application and follow the instructions provided on the application. A $30.00 application fee is required.
Do I have to submit a letter of recommendation?
Yes. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation with their application. Applicants can find the portal to submit their letter of recommendation in Section IV of the online application.
About how many people apply each year?
80 – 100. About 42% of those who apply have been accepted each year.
What are you looking for in a candidate?
Individuals who are interested in learning more about the community and their role as a leader in whatever arena they choose.
I’m new to the area and haven’t had much of a chance to get involved in the community yet. Will that hurt my chances of being accepted into the program?
No.
I’ve applied before and was not accepted…can I apply again?
Yes!
How much time should I be prepared to commit to the program?
Participants spend approximately 125 hours to complete the year-long program. This includes an overnight retreat (2 days) and a minimum of one day per month. Additional hours are spent participating in required meetings and experiences independently scheduled by participants. Participating in Leadership Tallahassee requires a full commitment to attend all retreats and program days.
I’ve submitted my application…when will I find out if I’ve been accepted or not?
All applicants will be notified by mid-June.
What is the minimal expected commitment after graduation?
Support of Leadership Tallahassee and its programs through annual membership dues and as a volunteer to serve on program planning committees for LT Class, YLT Class and Alumni programs.
