Leadership Tallahssee Wins UPHS Award

Leadership Tallahassee Board of Governors Chair Kathleen Brennan and Executive Director Barbara Boone attended the 4th Annual United Partners for Human Services "Celebration of Human Services" event Thursday evening. At the event,Leadership Tallahassee(and that means you!) was the recipient of the "Leadership Achievement Award".The award description included this: "this award will be presented to a UPHS member whose innovative programs or services has benefited the community, or is uniquely innovative and creative in their service delivery strategies...the purpose of this award is to recognize an organization that has gone "above & beyond the call".

In addition, LT Board Member Kathy Bye and LT graduate Jaimi Wacksman were both finalists for the Board Leadership Award. The Board President of UPHS is Randy Nicklaus, LT 9, the chair of the event was Kimberly Moore, LT 24, the Executive Director of UPHS is Kim Galban, LT 27. One of the emcees was Sam Varn, LT 21 and LT affiliate Jackie Pugh served on the planning committee. The UPHS board has several LT grads serving: Debbie Bergstrom Breeze, LT 14,Stacy Gromatski, LT 17, Rosalind Tompkins, LT 24, Carla Braveman, LT 26, Pam Davis, LT 20, Debra Herman LT 25, Darryl Jones T 20, Jackie Malone LT 25, and Alyce Lee Stansbury LT 11.

What was most gratifying, was to see allof theLeadership Tallahassee graduates who were in attendance, representing variousorganizations as either staff or board members.Among them were Buddy Streit, Joe Schreiber, Ken Armstrong, Susan Dunlap, Kelly Otte, Ray Bye, Yolanda Fairell and Joan Anderson.

And earlier in the evening, at the City Commission Meeting, Mayor Marks presented proclamations tothe 15 DLA finalists, 11 of whom are Leadership Tallahassee graduates - you can see that list at our website www.leadershiptallahassee.com. And, are you also aware that 3 of the 5 City Commissioners are LT grads, too? Mark Mustian, Andrew Gillum and Gil Ziffer! I love living in Tallahassee!
